A children’s menorah involves kids at Hanukkah time. Whether used for candle lighting or a wooden one for play, it adds to the Hanukkah fun.
The wonderment of Hanukkah shines through the eyes of the young as the candles light, the dreidels spin, and the chocolate coins are shared. A children’s menorah gives a sense of participation and is the perfect gift. Whether it’s for lighting the candles, or a toy, early involvement helps develop lifelong rituals.
When I was a little girl, we just had two menorahs. One was the traditional family menorah, and then all the kids shared another. It was ultimately passed down to my sister and is now used by my oldest niece. In her family, each of the kids now has their own menorah.
Below, we share a collection of fun kids’ menorahs. We haven’t tried them all, but we have looked carefully at the reviews and the images. Our collection ranges from traditional children’s menorahs to sports, flowers, spirals, rainbows, and a variety of other options.
Children’s Menorah – Our favorites are below
A children’s menorah involves kids at Hanukkah time. Whether used with Hanukkah candles for candle lighting or a wooden one for play, it adds to the Chanukkah fun.
Children's Train Hanukkah Menorah
I think it's the spinning wheels that make this steam train-shaped menorah such a hit with kids. Made in Israel by Yair Emanuel, its three train compartments include an engine car that holds the shamash. It's even available in different colors.
A pamphlet with the blessings in both English and Hebrew is included, plus optional candles.
Measures: 13.2 x 3.1 inches
Ceramic Train Menorah
- The Chanukah Express train features a menorah, a happy Chanukah car, a dreidel car, and a gelt car! I think it's the bright colors that kids like best.
- Measures 11.25 x 1.5 x 2.5 inches
Firetruck Menorah
While kids love the firetruck, my favorite feature is the Dalmatian sitting at a hydrant that has a fire hose attached. It's made by Aviv Judaica from ceramic with metal candle holders.

Friends Menorah
Hand-painted and fun, this ceramic menorah is filled with friends. However, it's the giant feet that hold the candles that had our kids giggling.

Noah's Ark Menorah
Our kids love their Noah's Ark menorah. This ceramic one says it is built to last. It will certainly bring a bit more fun to the holiday.

Metal Sports Hanukkah Menorah
There are two versions of this hand-painted metal sports menorah. The one shown here features three girls: a figure skater, field hockey player, and tennis player. The other option features a male baseball, football, and basketball player.
Fun, but probably best suited for older kids.

Another inexpensive simple menorah that is available in a variety of colors including blue, bronze, green (shown), pink, purple, and white.

For DIY kids … a paint-your-own menorah
When my kids were young, they each had a paint-your-own menorah. It created a fun new family tradition. Every year, well before the first night (so we were sure it dried), they repainted their menorahs. We could have gotten them a new one and watched the progression, but they wanted to do it this way.
